Animal Welfare

Mahiti Seva Samiti's our commitment to animal welfare is integral to our mission of creating a compassionate and sustainable community. Since 2015, we have actively worked to improve the lives of various animals, including cows, buffaloes, dogs, and birds, through a comprehensive approach that encompasses feeding, healthcare, and shelter. Our initiatives are particularly focused on areas facing severe drought and low rainfall, where animals often struggle to find adequate food and water. By implementing targeted feeding programs, providing essential healthcare, and creating safe shelter facilities, we aim to address these challenges and enhance the well-being of animals in Maharashtra. Our work is not only about offering immediate relief but also about building a foundation for long-term animal welfare through continuous support and community engagement. Through our efforts, we strive to ensure that every animal under our care receives the attention, respect, and sustenance they deserve, contributing to a more humane and sustainable environment for all.

1) Feeding Programs:

Birds: In our Bakori Vanarai Project, we are dedicated to the welfare of local bird species by providing daily nourishment. We distribute approximately 50 kg of grains each day to support their survival and well-being. Additionally, we have installed a network of bird feeders across our project areas to ensure a steady and reliable food supply, especially during harsh weather conditions and scarcity periods.
Cows and Buffaloes: Recognizing the challenges posed by drought and erratic rainfall in Maharashtra, our feeding initiatives extend to livestock such as cows and buffaloes. We provide essential feed, including nutritious grass and supplements, to affected areas.

2) Healthcare Services:

Health Check-ups: We conduct regular health check-ups for the animals under our care. Our team ensures that each animal receives necessary medical attention to maintain their health and address any issues promptly.

3) Shelter Facilities:

Safe Havens: We provide shelter for cows, offering them protection from harsh weather and ensuring a safe environment. Our facilities are designed to accommodate their needs and provide comfort.

4) Community Engagement:

Awareness Campaigns: We engage with local communities to raise awareness about animal welfare and promote responsible treatment of animals. Our campaigns aim to foster a culture of compassion and empathy towards all living beings.

Future Initiatives: We are continuously exploring ways to enhance our feeding programs. Plans include expanding our network of feeding stations, increasing the variety of feed provided, and implementing educational initiatives for local communities about the importance of animal welfare and sustainable feeding practices.
